Italy won as Best Heritage and Cultural Destination 2017, ahead of destinations like India Thailand ,Sri Lanka and Vietnam. The Travel Bulletin Star Awards is the UK travel trade's most prestigious awards programme rewarding every sector of the tourism industry. They serve to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence by acknowledging those suppliers that flourished in 2017 and provided the best products and services possible to UK travel agents. The voting was open exclusively to UK high street multiple, independent, online and home based travel agents and took place over a 6 week period.

Italy was crowned "Favourite Country" at the annual prestigious Readers’ Awards of Conde’ Nast Traveller UK, this year in its 20ͣ edition. Italy was followed in second place by Greece and in third place by the USA with France in fourth place. Sicily was first choice as Best Island for Food. Recognition also for Italian cities with Rome in 3rd place and Florence in 4th place as Favourite Cities and for the Italian hospitality sector with 5 hotels in the first 10 places in the category: Europe, Turkey and Russia.

The Awards are voted by the readers of the magazine that is a leader in luxury travel and lifestyle with more than 335.000 circulation.

The Italian National Tourist Board for UK and Ireland is pleased to announce the opening of a representative office in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, operative as from 1st August 2017.

The office is the result of a close cooperation with the Italian Chamber of Commerce and will enhance the presence of Italy in this very important market for our country.

The office is based in the district of Inchicore, Dublin 12. A team of three will look after all matters of commerce between the Republic of Ireland and Italy and will liaise closely with the Italian Tourist Board in London on travel and tourism matters.

Enit London has just launched a multimedia campaign on-line in co-operation with Greatitalianchefs.com to promote the Borghi of Central Italy through their gastronomy and their produce. Michelin-starred chefs talk about their favourite food and restaurants from those areas in Umbria, Abruzzo, Marche and Lazio and beautiful pictures illustrate the appeal of the Borghi. Great Italian Chefs is part of Great British Chefs, in operation since 2010 it collaborates with more than 150 Italian chefs, has 75.254 Twitter and 186.543 Facebook, 600.878 Pinterest followers, email data base 160.000, website visits 13.9 milion in 2016.

The on-line promotion includes to 2 lengthy features, newsletter, social media, and homepage takeover.

International journalists and Tour Operators attended the 21st Arts and Events 100 Italian Cities in Bologna from 19 to 21 May, one of the most prestigious meetings and workshops between incoming at outgoing tourism.

Participants followed a programme rich in visits to Bologna and its territory, meetings, networking, conferences and were given the opportunity to extend their visit and join in Education tours to Umbria.

Arts and Event is promoted by Confesercenti in cooperation with ENIT and APT Emilia Romagna. Among the UK participants, the journalist Penny Wainwright.

15-18 May: The first leg of the road show for travel agents organised by ENIT London in co-operation with the T.O. Typically Italian and “Borghi piu’ Belli d’Italia” represented by Borghi d’Italia Tour Network has taken place in the south-west of the country (Lyndhurst, Bournemouth and Taunton) and will be followed by 3 presentations in the Midlands and 3 in the North of the U.K.

The taxi advertising campaign by the Italian National Tourist Board for UK and Ireland started in mid-May on the iconic black London taxis. One hundred of them will cross the street of the City, West End and other central London areas for 5 weeks, supersides, tip-up seats and receipts will carry our advertising message. The instantly recognizable photo of a “Borgo” in the Tuscan countryside is accompanied by the slogan “Authentic colours of Italy” to evoke the authenticity and colours one can find in our Country.  Our logo,  website www.italia.it  and our hastag #italianvillages complete the message.
