ONLINE COURSES FOR BUSINESSES START IN OCTOBER
Transnational co-operation and cross-sector synergies in the European WeMED Na_TOUR project with which Europe along with ENIT aim to spread a sustainable tourism culture with zero impact on the Mediterranean blue economy. The project is coordinated by X23 - The Innovation Bakery and implemented by ENIT - Italian National Tourist Board, Travel Without Plastic, International Social Tourism Organisation (ISTO), Balearic Marine Cluster, Turismo de Portugal and Mauritania National Tourist Office (ONT). One of the flagship projects co-funded by the EU's EMFAF programme (a fund managed by CINEA), EU WeMED Na_TOUR provides a capacity-building programme for companies and schools to travel while protecting the sea.
The programme involves countries from Italy to Spain and Portugal to Mauritania through experts from different sectors to advance solutions for change in the Mediterranean, taking the environmental and economic development of destinations seriously. Research after research, study after study, meeting after meeting, the project is ready to involve small and medium-sized enterprises and educational institutions in the tourism sector.
The dissemination of know-how and the development of skills enables stakeholders to elevate their products to a more sustainable, resilient and forward-looking offer. Starting in October, tourism SMEs can participate in an online course designed to provide a comprehensive insight into sustainable tourism and the blue economy: the EU's WeMED Na_TOUR capacity-building programme is packed with practical tips on the environment, community engagement and communication strategies to continuously improve business. There is a 2 October deadline to apply at the following link: www.euwemed-natour.eu/CapacityBuildingSignup. For the occasion, ENIT – Italian National Tourist Board will organise an info-day dedicated to the project at the BITUS fair - International School Tourism Exchange in Pompeii, on 28 September at 11.00 am. For further information: bitus.it.
Schools and the younger generation will also play a central role with the so-called Eco-Intelligent Tourism Package that is taking classrooms into nature, teaching the younger generation the meaning and importance of sustainable travel. The trips will be fully funded. Interested schools can apply at the following link: www.euwemed-natour.eu/call-for-schools. The deadline is 25 September.
