LENGTHY ENCOUNTER BETWEEN THE ROYALS AND ENIT’S TOP MANAGEMENT
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain visited the Italy stand during FITUR, the top Spanish trade show in the tourism sector, held from 18 to 22 January 2023 at the Ifema Exhibition Centre in Madrid.
The royal couple visited only the stands of Spain, Guatemala and Italy.
The lengthy encounter between the king and queen, the Italian ambassador to Spain Riccardo Guariglia and the top management of ENIT, CEO Ivana Jelinic and Director Sandro Pappalardo, was marked by an exchange of ideas and the sharing of plans for the development of the sector.
“The Spanish royals expressed admiration for Italian tourism and the campaign to support Ischia following the landslides on the island, as well as the strategies adopted by Italy, Spain’s main competitor, but also very popular with Spanish tourists, who prefer our country to other destinations every year, with arrivals up 44% this year compared to 2021,” commented ENIT CEO.
“We are honoured to find that the king and queen of Spain are so favourably impressed by Italian tourism. Bookings from Spain for January 2023 have totalled around 17,300 so far, up 125.6% compared to January 2023,” said ENIT Board Member Sandro Pappalardo.
