Grado 8-10 May - Colegio Santo Tomàs de Aquijno, Majorca
From 8 to 10 May 2024

From 8 to 10 May, Grado hosted students from the Colegio Santo Tomàs de Aquijno in Majorca for the Pilot Trip of the EU WeMed Na_TOUR project to be held in Italy.

On arriving, the students immediately enjoyed a productive morning. The students took part in an information session on the 'Green Traveller' concept, which advises on how to travel sustainably and responsibly, implementing good practices and behaviours to reduce waste and pollution.

During the afternoon visit to the city centre, the young people were able to document the concepts they had learnt in a field research activity creating photos, reports, interviews.

The following day, after a training session with a company specialising in urban waste disposal, the students took part in an educational beach cleaning session at Punta Barbacale, and took a lesson on plastics that pollute the planet's seas.

In the afternoon, during a visit to the Cavanata Valley Nature Reserve, with its freshwater ponds, vegetation and local fauna, there was a discussion on the importance of biodiversity and efforts to keep it intact. At Casa Spina, the reserve's educational workshop, the students also explored the topic of fishing valleys with local experts.

The whole experience did not end with the return home. The Spanish students met their Italian peers from the Imberg school in Bergamo who were still in Majorca for the EU Pilot Trip WeMedNa_TOUR, which took place on the island. A great opportunity for young people from both countries to share thoughts, observations and what they had learned from each other's experiences.
