TOURISM: BEBE VIO AMONG THE STARS OF ENIT'S LIVEITALIAN CAMPAIGN

HERE ARE HER FIVE FAVORITE PLACES IN ITALY.

“ITALY AND THE ITALIANS ARE FANTASTIC. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ALLOW YOURSELF THE PLEASURE OF TRAVELLING AROUND ITALY AND YOU WILL SEE THAT IT’S NOT JUST A SAYING. IT’S A PRIVILEGE TO CALL IT HOME.”

THE ATHLETE’S STORY ON ITALIA.IT

Bebe Vio talks about her Italy on the official portal Italia.it.

The athlete is one of the ambassadors of the LiveItalian campaign, along with other Italian stars like Roberto Bolle. This international campaign is promoted by ENIT - Italian National Tourist Board and aimed at the general public, thanks to large-scale promotional activities in multiple countries around the world.

“Italy and the Italians are fantastic. All you have to do is allow yourself the pleasure of travelling around Italy,” says Bebe Vio, “and you will that it’s not just a saying. It’s a privilege to call it home.”

Vio has five favorite places in Italy for recharging her batteries. First and foremost, the island of Elba, which has been an escape for her and her family since she was a child. She has two favorite places there: The Cavoli, Fetovaia or S. Andrea beaches in Marciana for swimming, and the ancient fortress of Volterraio for an Instagrammable blazing sunset. “In short, for me this is the ‘place to be’, the place where I can always relax and find peace.”

Her native Venice also inspires special feelings. Specifically, Mogliano Veneto, where her family lives: mother Teresa, father Ruggero and older brother Nicolò. “This is where I have the best memories,” she says. “This is where it all started, and where everything always seems to take the right shape.” Milan also has a special place in her heart, so much so that she calls herself “Milan-crazy.”

“For me, this city is the beginning of many things, where everything is possible. That’s why I felt from the very beginning that this was the right starting point for the Bebe Vio Academy.”

Then, Rome. “The perfect place. There is beauty, culture, atmosphere, nature. I love immersing myself in its open-air parks, at least as much as I love feeling myself surrounded by artistic masterpieces as I literally walk through history. The Romans are special people, too. Their hearts all beat at top speed.” A city that reminds the athlete of a whirlwind, matching her inexhaustible energy. And yet, the thing she likes best is that “it is able to stop me. No one else can. I’m always going as fast as I can, and I’m forced to stop when I need to figure out how to get from one side of town to the other. For some people that’s annoying, but I like it. It makes me feel like I’m grasping the Eternal City a little better, really understanding it.”

Finally, Naples, a recently discovered gem. “I can easily get there from Rome, so I often treat myself to a day on the Neapolitan waterfront: a stroll and a pizza, what else could you possibly need? I like the simple life - like a margherita pizza, which is one of my favourite foods even for breakfast.”
