Within the framework of the PNRR and the Caput Mundi program, ENIT S.p.A. promotes the religious routes and cultural heritage of Lazio, enhancing new forms of sustainable and digital tourism.
The “Ancient Paths of Italy” project, commissioned by the Ministry of Tourism, aims to raise awareness of cultural and religious itineraries through an innovative and integrated tourism offering.
The main routes include the Via Francigena, the Romea Strata, the Via Romea Germanica, the Way of St. Francis, and the St. Benedict’s Way, all of which cross Lazio and lead to Rome, the symbolic heart of Europe’s great pilgrimage traditions.
The objective is to promote alternative and lesser-known routes in order to ease tourist congestion and encourage a more balanced use of the territory.
