The Nutella® Buongiorno limited edition, produced in collaboration with ENIT, also includes Bari, chosen as one of the cities of art representing Italy's heritage. The design tells the city’s story through several elements expressing its identity - Teatro Margherita, the N'derr la lanze fish market and the seafront - accompanied by a recipe inspired by local culinary traditions.
Bari has a deep bond with the sea, an element that has shaped its urban development and its relationship with the local area. The ever-present view of the Adriatic is reflected in the layout of the city’s spaces and the very function of its landmarks.
The elements depicted on the jar include Teatro Margherita, built in the early 20th century on piles, suspended over the water. Less well-known is the reason for this structural choice. The theatre was, in fact, built over the sea to bypass a constraint preventing construction of new theatres on municipal soil, resulting in this unique architectural solution.
Alongside the theatre, the N'derr la lanze area tells of a more everyday aspect of the city. In this space traditionally associated with fishermen, the direct relationship between human activity and the sea still remains palpable. The name itself refers to the presence of boats and fishing, elements that have coloured city life here for centuries.
The narrative is completed by the seafront, one of Bari’s distinguishing features, stretching for a total of about 15 kilometres. Less apparent is the history of the modern-day seafront, resulting from 20th-century urban developments that redefined the relationship between the city and the coast, transforming it into a continuous, iconic space.
On a culinary level, the story is completed by dolce delle monache, a cake rooted in traditional convent life. Like many recipes created by nuns, it was originally made using simple ingredients and for special occasions. Over time, it has become part of the local culture, maintaining strong ties with its origins. The recipe on the jar is reinterpreted using Nutella®, upholding the tradition while adapting it to contemporary tastes.
