Shopping Tourism in Basilicata

Basilicata has a long tradition of craftsmanship that, with passion and skill, comes very close to art and design, producing products that speak the language of contemporaneity without losing sight of the territory's identity. An example of this is Fucina Madre, an integrated project for the enhancement and promotion of tourism by the Basilicata Tourist Agency, which on the one hand proposes the ‘landscape’ of craftsmanship and design as a specific tourist-cultural destination, and on the other identifies artisans and designers as true animators of beauty, interpreters of contemporary taste and lifestyle, the fulcrum of an innovative tourist proposal linked to the territories where they live and work.

With this in mind, the activities of Fucina Madre very much focus on the creation of an active network of artisans and designers oriented towards transforming their activity into a modern, innovative and successful tourist experience, to propose themselves as true influencers, actors and promoters of a new model of sustainable tourism that concerns both the cities and the villages of Basilicata.

Top experiences

As part of the Fucina Madre project, the Apt, through a public call for applications, has selected a number of craftsmen, constructing a veritable catalogue of experiences. From ceramics to wood, from paper to textiles, the selected craftsmen offer real masterpieces made with their own hands. The entire catalogue of experiences with the craftsmen's contact details can be found at fucinamadre.basilicataturistica.it, where there is also a map with the geolocation of all the craftsmen.
