The city of Verona has been presented to the French public through two in-depth features dedicated to its historical and artistic heritage and to the Arena’s great operatic tradition.
Verona has strengthened its visibility in the French market thanks to the promotional and media support activities developed by ENIT S.p.A. – Paris Office, which assisted journalist Paula Boyer of the specialist publication TourMag in organizing a press trip dedicated to the city, with a focus on culture and music. The initiative, carried out in collaboration with local stakeholders, the Fondazione Arena di Verona and Destination Verona Garda, formed part of ENIT’s activities to promote Italy’s tourism offering among the French travel trade media.
The trip resulted in two extensive features published on 25 and 26 August 2026, presenting Verona as a destination capable of going far beyond the imagery associated with Romeo and Juliet and highlighting its rich historical, artistic and cultural heritage.
In the first article, “Italie: Vérone vaut bien mieux que la légende de Roméo et Juliette” (“Italy: Verona Is Worth Much More Than the Legend of Romeo and Juliet”), TourMag takes readers on a journey through a city with a history spanning thousands of years and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting its Roman, medieval and Renaissance legacy. From the Arena to Piazza delle Erbe, from Piazza dei Signori to Castelvecchio, and on to its historic churches and the Biblioteca Capitolare, the feature portrays Verona as a city rich in art and cultural heritage, while also vibrant and enjoyable to experience.
The second feature, “Italie: Vérone, capitale mondiale de l’opéra” (“Italy: Verona, World Capital of Opera”), is entirely dedicated to the Arena’s great operatic tradition and to the 2026 edition of the Festival. The article highlights the uniqueness of the Roman amphitheatre as an international stage and focuses on the productions of Nabucco, Aida and La Traviata, underlining Verona’s ability to renew a world-renowned artistic heritage through contemporary productions, internationally acclaimed performers and a cultural offering with strong global appeal.
The two articles have contributed to positioning Verona among French audiences as a comprehensive cultural destination, capable of combining history, art, music, monumental heritage and lifestyle. Together, they have broadened perceptions of the city beyond its best-known icons and highlighted Italy’s ability to offer diverse travel experiences with a strong cultural dimension.
Through this initiative, ENIT has continued to strengthen its relations with international media and to promote Italian destinations, encouraging the production of high-quality editorial content capable of showcasing the variety and uniqueness of Italy’s tourism offering to international audiences.
